The Fort Thomas Police Department has three full-time Detectives. Two of the Detectives work day-shift -- 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday. Detectives handle almost all of the follow-up work for most open criminal cases that are filed with the Fort Thomas Police Department. Almost all initial reports and investigations are by uniformed officers, but most often the follow-up or resolution of the case will be made by a detective.
The third Detective is assigned primarily to the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, but provides assistance with other Fort Thomas investigations as needed. The Strike Force is a multi-jurisdictional partnership that focuses on "investigating, apprehending, and prosecuting those involved in the illicit use and distribution of controlled substances, as well as, disrupting and/or dismantling drug trafficking organizations."
