P R O C L A M A T I O N

 

 

WHEREAS, on March 20, 1914, Dorothy Mary Dorne was born in Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, ;Dorothy married Robert Arthur Schmidt on July 26, 1941 in Newport, Kentucky and gave birth to 5 daughters:  Mary Lee, Linda, Diane, Deborah, and Margaret; and

 

WHEREAS, the family moved to Fort Thomas, Kentucky in 1960 where Dorothy was a member of the Saint Thomas Catholic Church for 44 years and was  honored to be able to participate in the celebration of the church’s 100th anniversary with a brick engraved in the family’s name; and

 

WHEREAS,         in 2004, Dorothy moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Marietta, Georgia where she attends Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, enjoys taking photographs, and traveling to visit family and friends; and  

 

WHEREAS, Dorothy has 3 surviving daughters (Mary Lee, Diane, and Margaret), 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; and

 

WHEREAS, Dorothy loves her family and has always known how to enjoy whatever life brings.  She has a beautiful smile and an even better laugh.  She is bright, funny, and a shrewd card player.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARY H. BROWN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FORT THOMAS, CAMPBELL COUNTY, KENTUCKY, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM that March 20th, 2009  be designated as: 

 

DOROTHY  MARY  DORNE  SCHMIDT  DAY

 

within the City of Fort Thomas, Kentucky and call upon all citizens to honor her on her special day. In Witness Thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Official Seal of the City to be affixed this 20th day of March, 2009.
