We, the Mayors of the Southbank Partner Cities, representing our Commissions and Councils, unite in offering our joint Resolution recognizing Wally Pagan this 15th Day of July, 2010, and proclaim the following:

Whereas this event, and award, honoring Wally Pagan, marks the 1st Founders Award given by Southbank Partners; and

Whereas: Wally Pagan was the inaugural President of Southbank partners, where he served with dedication, tenacity and vision; and

Whereas: He was known for never saying “No,” and in that vein provided inspiration to the Southbank organization and the committees with whom he worked; and

Whereas: He was instrumental in the development of the Southbank Shuttle, a successful transit tool for Northern Kentucky and the region; and

Whereas: He was the driving force behind turning the Newport Southgate Bridge into the pedestrian walkway now known as the Purple People Bridge; and

Whereas: He enhanced the coalition of Northern Kentucky river cities by expanding the Southbank organization to include additional cities that could work together to pursue the common interests of the region; and

Whereas: He embraced regionalism as a whole, working with the tri-state organizations in the greater metropolitan area; and

Whereas: He successfully navigated the political waters of all Southbank cities, local, state and federal elected officials to accomplish progress for the Southbank organization.
